Did you know you could be making money from the energy generated by your renewable system installation?
If you have recently installed, or are thinking about installing, a renewable technology which produces electricity (such as a solar electricity (PV) system or wind turbine) you may be able to get paid for the electricity it produces.
FITs provide a guaranteed rate for each unit of electricity generated, as well as for each unit exported to the National Grid.
The UK Government has announced the launch of the Renewable Heat Premium Payment scheme, which is part of the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) to incentivise take-up of renewable and low carbon heat technologies.
If you are installing a renewable or low carbon heat technology (such as a wood-fuelled boiler, solar hot water heating or a heat pump) then you may be eligible for the one-off Renewable Heat Premium Payment. The scheme will run from 1 August 2011 – 31 March 2012, however, you can register your interest beforehand.
People in receipt of the Renewable Heat Premium Payments will be able to apply for the full RHI tariff support once the scheme is introduced in Autumn 2012, as will anybody who has installed an eligible technology since 15th July 2009.
